The new GMC Sierra Combines Luxury with Versatility

Design

The new GMC Sierra 1500 is designed as a luxury pickup truck. It is a four-door truck that can seat up to five individuals comfortably. And it provides immense versatility with a lot of choice between the engines and transmissions.

Performance

The new GMC Sierra has four different engines available to choose from. These engines are:

  • A turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder
  • 5.3-liter V-8
  • 6.2-liter V-8
  • Six-cylinder diesel

The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine can generate 310-hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. The 5.3-liter V-8 engine can generate 355-hp, and the 6.2-liter V-8 engine can generate 420-hp. The six-cylinder diesel engine can generate 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sierra 1500 also has two different transmissions that you can choose from. These transmissions are an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Sierra 1500 can also tow 13,200 lbs. and can support a payload of up to 2240 lbs.

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy, like the engines and transmissions, vary depending on what you have underneath the hood of your Sierra 1500. The diesel engine can get 23 mpg around Charlotte, MI, and 30 mpg on the highway. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine can get 16 mpg and 20 mpg on the highway. The fuel economy is incredibly variable due to the various combination of parts. The engine, transmission, and rear-wheel/all-wheel drive can impact the fuel economy of the Sierra 1500.

Safety

The safety features included in the Sierra 1500 are:

  • Forward-collision warning
  • Automated emergency braking
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert

The forward-collision warning feature and the automated emergency braking feature work together with the help of sensors on the front of the vehicle. The sensors in front of your vehicle identify potential objects in front of your vehicle and send a signal to the Sierra 1500's internal computer. The computer processes the signal and triggers the emergency brake to help you brake before you can react.

The lane-departure warning feature and lane-keeping assist feature work in unison due to the sensors located on the vehicle's side. These sensors identify the width of the lane. Then, if you start to drift outside of the lane, the sensors signal to the computer and activate the lane-keeping assist feature.

The blind-spot monitoring feature uses a sensor on the rear of the vehicle to locate any objects/vehicles that may be in your blind spot. When the sensor identifies an object/vehicle, it sends a signal to the internal computer, and the computer then sends an alert that lets you know that there is something in your blind-spot.

The rear-cross traffic alert uses both a camera and sensor to identify oncoming traffic and objects that may be behind your vehicle. This feature alerts you of potential vehicles and objects that may be in your way.

Technology

The technology features in the  GMC Sierra include a 13.4-inch touchscreen that can help navigate outside of Charlotte, MI. It also includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and voice assistant. All these technology features allow for a better experience for the driver and can entertain the passengers.

  • Sierra 1500 Pro

Each of the trims available for the Sierra 1500 has its own unique set of features. These features allow you to avoid paying for unnecessary features that will go unused. Each trim has its price point, so you can elect to purchase the trim that best fits your budget.
